Prayers of Thanks

Prayers of Thanks
.
[Seminary-Notes]
====================================
FOR YOUR INFORMATION...
====================================

The New Testament is full of opportunities to discuss with your students the great principle of prayer.  Prior to doing so, may I recommend that you read and re-read Elder David A. Bednar's October 2008 General Conference talk entitled "Pray Always."

It is available online at www.lds.org and will, of course, be published soon in the November 2008 Ensign magazine.

Elder Bednar shared three principles about prayer:

Principle #1. Prayer becomes more meaningful as we counsel
with the Lord in all our doings (see Alma 37:37).

Principle #2. Prayer becomes more meaningful as we express
heartfelt gratitude.

Principle #3. Prayer becomes more meaningful as we pray
for others with real intent and a sincere heart.

I think that this statement from his talk is especially insightful and important:
"The most meaningful and spiritual prayers I have experienced contained many expressions of thanks and few, if any, requests."
Best wishes,

Ken
